Advanced Remedial Massage
This treatment is a more targeted treatment for pain and injury. Remedial Massage focuses on parts of the body that requires rehabilitation. Your therapist will start with a review of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and posture to get a better understanding of the issue causing the injury or pain. The therapist will always have a goal in mind, which is often done over a few sessions, allowing them time to adjust their treatment plan to give their client the best outcome. As an Advanced Remedial Massage Therapist, this also gives us extra modalities to use such as cupping.
Functional Release Cupping
Functional release cupping is an advanced and dynamic approach to myofascial cupping. Functional release cupping is targeted at movement or specific dysfunctions. You can also use dynamic or static cupping. Dynamic and static cupping is slow movements, stretching the fascia which can help with changes to the function of inside and outside the cells.
Joint Mobilisation
Joint mobilisation is used when joints have become dysfunctional due to trauma, overuse or in use and are unable to perform the movement for which they are designed for. Joint mobilisation is a technique used to restore small involuntary movements that assist the joints to perform at their optimum function.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a gentle and effective technique used to relieve muscle tightness and pain. It involves using very fine, sterile needles that are carefully placed into specific areas of the muscle, known as trigger points, to help release tension and improve movement.
A trigger point is a small, tight knot that can form in a muscle. These knots can develop from things like overuse, poor posture, stress, or injury. They’re often tender to touch and can sometimes cause pain in other areas of the body. By treating these points, we can help reduce pain and improve how your muscles function.
While the idea of needles can sound a little daunting, most people are surprised at how minimal the discomfort is. You might feel a small twitch or slight pressure, but it’s usually very manageable.
Benefits of Dry Needling
- Relieves muscle tension and pain
- Improves flexibility and range of motion
- Supports injury recovery
- Reduces muscle tightness and spasms
- Encourages blood flow and healing
Dry needling can be used on its own or alongside other treatments, depending on what suits you best. I always take the time to explain the process and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
